Ocren — Privacy Policy
Ocren ("the App") respects your privacy and collects only what is necessary. This policy explains what information the App handles and how.
1. Information We Handle
The App does not collect personally identifying information (name, email, phone number, etc.).
The App handles the following on a limited basis:
- Advertising Identifier (IDFA) — accessed through Google AdMob for advertising delivery. Not used when you select "Ask App Not to Track" in iOS.
- Photographed images — relayed through our Supabase Edge Function and forwarded to the Google Gemini API for OCR processing only. The image is discarded immediately after processing by both Supabase and Google. It is not stored.
- Search queries — relayed through our Supabase Edge Function and forwarded to the Google Books API to look up book cover images.
2. Where Your Data Lives
- Text content (notes, book titles, etc.) — stored only in a local SQLite database on your device.
- iCloud sync (optional) — when enabled, stored in a per-app container on your own iCloud Drive (Apple's servers, governed by Apple's security).
We have no access to your notes. We do not operate a server.
3. Device Permissions
The App may request the following permissions as needed:
- Camera — to photograph pages for OCR.
- Photo Library — to pick screenshots taken from e-book apps.
- Tracking (IDFA) — for personalized ads. Declining still allows the App to function; only the relevance of ads is reduced.
4. Third-Party Services
The App uses the following third-party services. Each provider's own privacy policy applies.

5. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13.

This policy may change without prior notice. We will announce material changes inside the App or on this support site.
